The variety of manufacturing processes is reflected in the wide range of
research topics within the group Manufacturing Processes. One research field is
mechanical joining of dissimilar materials, whereby a focus also is on the
versatility of joining processes. Ultrasonic-assisted metal forming as well as
hybrid parts and processes based on the combination of additive manufacturing
and forming technologies are further focal points of the scientific work of the
group. The linking with digitisation also is of interest. The central issues of
the research work primarily comprise the development of a fundamental process understanding,
the introduction of innovative processes as well as the further development of
existing processes including the determination and expansion of current process
limits.
