Language education and language promotion are considered a responsibility of all subjects. However, this can only succeed if the teaching and learning
procedures are observed from both a subject and language education perspective, or
rather if language education is outlined in a factually correct manner. This contribution starts at this point and shows references between subject and language learning
as exemplified by science learning in primary school classes. We present three didactic assumptions for language-aware subject teaching, which are discussed in the
context of current insights into subject education and theories of language acquisition
and concretised on biological topics.
