Scientific Abstract
The reasons behind the vulnerability of dopaminergic neurons (DANs) to pro-inflammatory cytokines in Parkinsons disease remain elusive. Using an iPSC-derived DAN model, the contribution of the hallmark protein alpha-synuclein (?-syn) to this susceptibility will be investigated. Through the combination of RNA-seq, microelectrode array and immune secretome, we will clarify how ?-syn-driven transcriptional programs sensitise DANs to functional damage by pro-inflammatory cytokines.
