The objective is to gain a fundamental understanding of the transport properties of nanoparticles in suspension and in realistic porous structures. Such situations are relevant during particle synthesis and chromatographic separation. Using mesoscale lattice Boltzmann simulations, we will bridge the gap between nanoscale molecular dynamics simulations and macroscale continuum models. Collective behaviour and material parameters have an impact on the transport properties or separation efficiency and will be investigated and optimised systematically.
