Scientific Abstract

The increasing individualization due to customer-specific requirements as well as the enormous complexity of modern products lead to steadily increasing challenges in product development. The key task of product developers is to meet the steadily increasing requirements from the product life cycle for technical products. For this purpose, multi-criteria evaluations of solution variants in product development (e.g. different concepts, drafts, elaborations) are very important. However, there is currently the risk that decisive requirements for the evaluation of the alternative solution variants are taken not or not adequately into account and thus the product quality suffers. The overall objective of the research project is a multi-criteria, computer-supported evaluation process of solution variants with regard to all requirements from the product life cycle. The first sub-goal is the mathematical description of the relations between all requirements as well as the evaluation criteria derived therefrom and the related product properties and characteristics. The second sub-goal is the development of computer-aided methods for the analysis, visualization and evaluation of solution variants by means of value functions for the quantified description of the relations between requirements, product properties and characteristics. This is particularly useful for more targeted and systematic evaluation and decision-making in the different development phases. The scientific claim is the development of a procedure with suitable modeling, analysis and visualization methods. This result in a requirement-oriented evaluation with regard to all requirements arising from the product lifecycle and the evaluation criteria derived from it.
