Abstract

A smart photovoltaic window is designed and constructed by solution-processing a layer of thermochromic VO2 nanoparticles on top of a semitransparent organic solar cell. The prepared smart window not only produces electricity using the visible part of the solar spectrum but also saves energy via intelligently modulating the amount of NIR radiation passing through the device in response to ambient temperature.
