Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) are a central material in modern lightweight structures. They are used when components must exhibit high stiffness and strength combined with low weight. In real-world applications, however, such structures are rarely subjected to single loads. Instead, bending, torsion, tension, compression, or shear frequently occur simultaneously and change during operation. Cyclic loads are particularly critical in this context, as damage in CFRP can develop progressively over many load cycles. As a result, component behavior can change before any externally visible damage appears.
