Abstract

This paper presents a 3 dB short-slot coupler designed for the G-band. The design process, fabrication, and electrical characterization are detailed herein. Manufacturing was realized through additive manufacturing using SLA (Stereolithography) printing followed by metallization. To enhance performance, freeform shapes were integrated into the component design. The device operates within a frequency range of 160–180 GHz. A consistent coupling of about −4 dB was achieved across all channels. Both return loss and isolation exceed 15 dB, and the phase shift between the output ports maintains the 90° characteristic of a hybrid coupler. Due to their cost-effective production and lightweight, such components are ideally suited for applications in large satellite constellations.
