Abstract
This article provides a selective overview of key findings from psycholinguistic research on additional language acquisition. It discusses: (i) the influence of the native language (L1) on the early learning of an additional language (L2), (ii) L1 facilitation in L2 online processing, (iii) L1 interference in L2 online processing, and (iv) L2 effects on L1 processing.
