The prenatal diagnosis of congenital malformation requires comprehensiv multidisciplinary counselling for the parents to-be. This counselling should provide detaile information about the diagnosis and explain possible treatment strategies. The counselling team includes obstetricians, neonatologist and surgical specialists who take medical psychological and ethical aspects into account The counselling emphasises open communication and promotes a supportive environment in which the couple can express their concerns and as questions. The counselling may differ depending on whether the malformation is surgicall correctable, occurs as part of an underlyin genetic syndrome, leads to a disability, or i lethal in its severity. The counselling proces may explain the possibility of termination o pregnancy but primarily discusses treatmen options and potential challenges. It offer emotional support so that expectant parent can make informed decisions that are in lin with their values and preferences. Furthermore the counselling process goes beyond the initia diagnosis and offers ongoing support during pregnancy, helping families prepare for the difficulties they may encounter after the birt of a child with congenital malformations Counsellors focus on the medical, emotional an ethical dimensions of their counselling to enabl parents to make informed decisions.
