This paper investigates real-time co-simulation, focusing on coupling two electromagnetic transient (EMT) domains. As coupling algorithm, Distributed Parameter Line (DPL) is implemented, achieving a stable coupling. For local real-time co-simulation, a fiber-optic communication interface is used to ensure fast and reliable data transmission. The performance and accuracy is shown by electromagnetic transient simulations, demonstrating the advantages of real-time co-simulation in distributed systems. Offline simulations served as a reference to assess the coupling algorithms' stability across EMT domains. In local real-time co-simulation via FPGA and fiber-optic communication, the DPL model achieved sufficiently stable coupling.
