Abstract

This paper presents DCign, a modular simulation framework for energyrelated modeling and planning of DC-based production systems. Addressing the limitations of conventional design approaches, DCign enables the generation of realistic load profiles by integrating production process simulations. The framework combines multiple simulation paradigms—discrete-event, physics-based, and behavioral modeling, within a flexible framework. A centralized Load Administrator ensures standardized handling of time-series load data across domains. Application to a real-world demonstrator validates the approach and highlights its potential for scalable and efficient DC grid planning in future manufacturing environments.
