Abstract

In the manufacturing of electric motors, the stator is the most expensive component. For this reason, it is very interesting in terms of automation and offers various possibilities for increasing production efficiency. Particularly in the case of large traction drives used in locomotives or highspeed trains, the number of units produced is too small for rigid full automation in classic processing to be worthwhile. In addition to the lamination or the insulation material, the coils provided also play an important role. Automated subsequent assembly is only possible if these are prepared and manufactured properly. One possible approach is to use 2D-pre-forming to enable the final shaping of the 2D-coils onto a 3D-geometry in the assembled state and within the lamination. This requires precise pre-forming of the coils. The requirements and the general feasibility are investigated as part of this work.
