Renal dysfunction is a common disease in the general population, affecting around 10%-13% of the population. It can also be the result of occupational exposure to substances that are toxic to the kidneys or a consequence of treatment for a disease recognised as an occupational disease, such as urinary bladder cancer. The Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) has published an updated and generally recognised staging of renal dysfunction for many years. To date, however, no values for the reduction in earning capacity (MdE) have been published for the legal field of statutory accident insurance for the assessment of occupational renal dysfunction. Therefore, the authors present a MdE table for the assessment of occupational renal dysfunction based on the KDIGO stage classification.
