The original publication of the article was published without receiving final correction from author with errors in equation line break and figure size. The correct version of the article is presented below: We analyze the organization of gas trade and transport in the context of the European gas market design. In Europe, the so-called “entry-exit system” aims at largely separating gas trade and transport. Agents have to take an involved sequence of actions, which first lead to gas trading independently of grid restrictions and then transport of the traded volumes through the network. In particular, the transmission system operator (TSO) first announces so-called “technical capacities”, which are capacities available to the buyers and sellers at the different entry and exit nodes. These technical capacities must be chosen such that any balanced set of quantities less than the technical capacity can be transported through the network.
