Abstract

Highly Ioaded Cold forging Tools mainly fail due to cyclic Fatigue. In this book a deterministic method for the calculation of Fatigue life is presented, which is based on the local Approach. It is shown that this method is suitable for the prediction of Lifetime until crack Initiation of Cold forging Tools made of modern PM tool Steels. For the development of a Damage Parameter PM tool Steels are characterized in uniaxial and multiaxial material Tests, the results are presented and analysed. It is shown that it was possible to integrate the Damage calculation fully into an existing FEM Environment by a postprocessor module. Thus the applicability of the Fatigue calculation is given and the method can be used in the daily work of a tool designer.
