Abstract

This research work investigated which material and process factors have a significant influence on the dimensional accuracy of assemblies. The main aim of this study was the development of cause-effect relations in order to design the clamping and fastening concepts of assemblies. The result is a method, which is independent of the assembly and with which the influence of framing stations' parameters can be estimated. Recommandations in the form of process windows were generated for the future design process of assemblies, enabling lower shape deviations.

An improvement of the dimensional accuracy of principal and real add-on parts were realized by optimizing the statistically distributed input variables of the clamping and fastening processes.

This research topic will keep his high importance in the future as adapting the clamping and fixture concept produces less costs than tool changes.
