Abstract
Based on a systematic literature search, the S3 guideline on Prophylaxis, Diagnosis and Therapy of Osteoporosis"(AWMF register number 183-001) was completely revised. This literature search was based on predefined PICO (Patient Intervention-Comparison-Outcome) questions. Structured consensus was reached in the interdisciplinary, German-speaking expert group from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, representing the member societies of the DVO, and in the presence of a patient representative of the Bundesselbsthilfeverband für Osteoporose e.V. (German Self-Help Association for Osteoporosis). In this article, the most important aspects of the chapter "General Fracture and Osteoporosis Prophylaxis with the focus on "Falls"are presented.
