Abstract

PETRA-Pointwise Encoding Time reduction with Radial Acquisition-is a MR imaging sequence designed to reach the shortest possible encoding times on any scanner. In PETRA, a radial zTE-like imaging part is combined with a SPRITE-like single-point acquisition for the missed k-space center points. A post-processing algorithm is used to eliminate effects of unwanted slice excitation. PETRA has been applied for multiple clinical and non-clinical purposes. Its main advantage over other zTE-like sequence is its independence of fast RF switching times, as well as its robustness.
