Abstract

With sensible adjustments to the Maternity Protection Act, especially through standardized federal regulations, there is a real chance of reconciling the necessary protective measures in the professional environment for mother and child with their career. Due to an ever-increasing number of women in medicine, progress is urgently needed. Obstetrics and Gynaecology in particular, as the most feminised field of human medicine, should position itself more strongly for solutions and improvements in order to achieve progress for all pregnant female doctors, regardless of their speciality.
