Abstract

Microgrids aggregate distributed energy resources and local loads, which are often single-phase connected. Thus, the mitigation of phase unbalance is an important issue in order to provide a certain power quality at the point of connection to the utility grid. In this work, the control scheme of a four-leg converter for a battery storage system for compensation of current imbalance is presented. An average model of the converter is implemented as a real time model with a grid-feeding control structure in the synchronous rotating reference frame. Power Hardware-in-the-Loop experiments show effective imbalance compensation within a real laboratory microgrid.
