Abstract

Reinvestigating a phase reported for the Na-Au-Bi-O system has revealed that both former structure determinations were incorrect and that the true composition is Na2Bi5AuO11. Its crystal structure (space group Pnma; a = 12.1629(8) Å, b = 7.7086(5) Å and c = 12.1696(8) Å) is related to orthorhombic NaBi2RuO6. Band structure calculations predict a topological trivial insulating state for this material.
