Abstract

The molecular orbitals of magnesium tetraphenyl porphyrin (MgTPP) deposited on epitaxial MgO films on Ag(100) are studied by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and two-photon photoemission. The energies of the electronic states are pinned to the vacuum level and the band gap is 3.88±0.07 eV largely independent of the MgO layer thickness.
