Abstract

Two types of pathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC and EHEC) firmly attach to gut epithelial cells and induce pedestals, which are actin-rich structures protruding beneath attached bacteria. The different strategies of EPEC and EHEC to induce pedestals are discussed.
