Abstract

A number of applications of microwave and, in particular, millimeter-wave MMICs (monolithic microwave integrated circuits) in automotive systems are under development. The authors review these applications and give the current status of some of these developments. The applications considered are sensors (both radar and radiometric), communication systems, and traffic control systems. MMICs for the following specific systems are considered: speed sensors, electronic toll collection, and collision avoidance radar.
