With the extensive use and distribution of digital media, the need for identification and authentication of this data has arisen. Digital watermarking is a young research field which specializes in the protection of media, by introducing imperceptible information inside the signal. This work describes some of the existing embedding methods in the transform-domain, together with two statistical blind detection methods, which can be combined into a watermarking system that can be used in copyright protection. The combinations of the embedding and detection methods are extended and evaluated against attacks, concluding with an analysis of the performance and the weaknesses of the approaches.
