Abstract

Abstract--- This paper presents a fall detection and activity monitoring system comprised of a server software for data management, multiple UHF RFID readers and an energy efficient, small and lightweight semi-passive UHF RFID sensor tag. The system is able to gather activity and indoor localization data of several persons wearing just one sensor tag, making it particularly suitable for the use in nursing facilities or hospitals. The implemented fall detection alerts nursing staff in case of a detected fall and allows quick intervention in case of an emergency.
