We will present our simulation to predict the behavior of moving nano-particles in a flow using the Lattice Boltzmann method. Targeted applications for this simulation are the pre- diction of particle movement in shear flows for large agglomerates and possible break ups or structural changes within the particles. The focus for the implementation is a stable and correct simulation even for high Reynolds numbers. Therefore, the Lattice Boltzmann Method is extended by complex geometries for an improved particle boundary treatment (4) and the method of momentum exchange for the force interaction between the fluid and the particle (1). The Lattice Boltzmann sim- ulation system is coupled to a rigid-body physics engine to build a two-system simulation (3). We will show results of simulations with static particles, which show consistent drag forces in comparison with the analytical results (2). The influence of the domain and particle radius were investigated. Further results for moving particles agree with real world measurements and, where possible, with the analytical results. Furthermore, an outlook to future work will be given, which will focus on performance improvements by grid refinement and parallelization for large scale simulations. Larger sim- ulations will also oer the possibility to include multi body interactions with agglomerations and potentials.
