Abstract

In this paper, simulated Brillouin scattering in Raman fiber amplifier was numerically calculated. The theoretical results show that much more power could be transferred from the pump to the signal in Raman fiber amplifier with no SBS and Brillouin frequency shift in a given fiber depends on temperature and on mechanical strain. And spatially variable longitudinal strain distribution in standard fibers for SBS suppression in active devices was proposed. © 2003 IEEE.
