Abstract

In part I, the analytic calculation of current-source power converters was concentrated on the determination of the voltages and currents of the DC link. The method shown in this article makes it possible to calculate any arbitrary value on the AC side(s) of the converter system. Therefore, the interactions of the converters and the surrounding networks are specified analytically and the entire system can be interpreted as an integral unit. The evaluation and the comparison of different operating points can easily be reached by a calculation of further characteristic values like the harmonic load, the RMS values, the active, reactive and apparent power. The method is demonstrated and the advantages are indicated by means of an example network consisting of a HVDC system.
