Abstract

Different models of rails for the high frequency range are compared. In addition to known models, a new model based entirely upon the finite element method is presented. The models are used to calculate the dispersion relations for wave propagation in free rails up to 15 kHz. The results for different models are compared. The deviations are explained and the validity ranges for the different models are given.
