Abstract

A method for detecting scene changes from JPEG 2000 compressed images is presented. Change information and localisation is derived from changes in the local data rate. They can be extracted by analysing the code streams only. The computationally expensive decoding of image data is eliminated. © 2010 The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
