Scientific Abstract

First integration of a hydraulic dielectric elastomer actuator (hDEA) as a biomimetic musculus vocalis in a self-oscillating, multilayer silicone larynx. Using static activation, we causally map how body-layer thickening shifts fundamental frequency, contact time, and voice quality. Clinically, the platform allows rehearsal of injection/medialization, sets objective therapy targets, and yields ground-truth data for early detection of tremor and asymmetry.
