Project details

Short description

Endometriosis is one of the most common conditions affecting women’s reproductive health and can have a serious impact on daily life and overall well-being. To better understand how endometriosis affects quality of life, researchers often use a questionnaire called the Endometriosis Health Profile-30 (EHP-30). While this questionnaire is widely used around the world, the German version has not yet been properly tested for its reliability and accuracy. Our study aimed to change that. To ensure that the German version of the EHP-30 is reliable and can be used for research, we tested it for its properties in two separate studies.

Scientific Abstract

This project aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the German EHP-30 using exploratory and confirmatory approaches. In Study 1 we assessed construct validity (using principal component analysis with varimax rotation), convergent validity, and internal consistency, using a cross-sectional study-design. Study 2, a longitudinal study, examined construct validity (using confirmatory factor analysis), test-retest reliability and internal consistency. Both studies were conducted online and required a confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis. Overall, we found the German version of the EHP-30 to be a reliable and valid measure, best explained by a correlated five-factor model.
