Third party funded individual grant
Acronym: BaCzALD
Start date : 01.07.2024
End date : 31.12.2026
The BaCzALD partners will invent new chemistry and develop new processes for creating two-dimensional photoactive semiconductors using atomic layer deposition (ALD), specifically the newly established technology of ALD from precursors dissolved in liquid solvents (‘solution ALD’, sALD). We will aim for ‘post-graphene’ semiconductors based specifically on the elements of group 15, including elemental phosphorus and antimony (‘phosphorene’ and ‘antimonene’). BTHA funding will support the synthesis of new molecular precursors (Czech team), the exploration of these precursors’ reactivity, the development of sALD processes (German team), and the characterization of thin films deposited by these new processes. We aim for a minimum of two joint scientific articles and a common European project proposal (EIC Pathfinder) as the project outcome to build upon the experimental successes.
