Scientific Abstract

The project “Scaling up Local physical Activity policy monitoRinG initiativEs” (LARGE) is a collaboration of FAU’s Department of Sport Science and Sport (DSS) with the Université de Lorraine, funded by the Franco-Bavarian University cooperation center BayFrance.

The project aims at generating knowledge on local physical activity (PA) policy monitoring. Based on a mapping of indicators of local PA policy monitoring tools, a co-production process with policy-makers will be organized to identify facilitators and barriers and to develop an appropriate methodology for large-scale local PA policy monitoring. This will result in a strategy for scaling up local PA policy monitoring, e.g. to increase the reach (number of municipalities involved) and frequency of respective initiatives.

LARGE is linked to previous DSS research in the Policy Evaluation Network (PEN) and the LoGoPAS project, publications of the WHO Collaborating Center on Physical Activity and Public Health, and research activities of the French collaborating partner (Prof. Dr. Aurelie van Hoye).
