Scientific Abstract
The scope of this project was the investigation of manufacturing semi-finished products, so-called tailored blanks, by means of the incremental forming process of orbital forming and flexible rolling. With the aim of increasing the geometry complexity, current research work has transferred process knowledge and fundamentals to the production of tailored blanks with discrete functional elements with the geometry of involute toothing. For the flexible rolling process, new challenges and process errors result based on the free volume of the cavities. However, to achieve homogeneous material pre-distributions, the development of process-adapted process controll strategies is essential.
