The combination of state of the art numerical methods such as multigrid und multilevel methods with high performance computers makes it possible to tackle problem sizes in the TerraByte range. The pre- and postprocessing of such data sets are high performance computing tasks in their own right. The main aim of this project is the development of a grid management software that will provide a common platform for both simulation and visualization methods. The grid management has to support unstructured grids, distributed memory machines and solver specific data layout in memory to allow the integration of existing solvers into the grid framework.
In this project, the system simulation group investigates efficient data structures for multigrid methods on hybrid hierarchical grids, which are expected to be included in the grid framework.
