Internally funded project
Acronym: BEO
Start date : 01.12.2001
End date : 30.06.2005
The BEO project creates a software environment to simulate high temperature processes in 3D. The key aspects are object oriented Software-design to enable the further development and extension of the package. In a first step heat conduction and radiation are taken into account. The simulation of the heat conduction is based on a Finite Element Method on unstructured meshes. To cope with the enormous computational effort for the global 3D Simulation it is possible to use "distributed memory" parallel computers.
It is the aim to design a simulation workbench, where different simulation codes can be coupled and the common modules of simulation like grid generation, linear equation solvers, visualization and easy GUI creation are provided. As a reference implementation a user friendly, but still powerful tool to simulate furnaces for crystal growth, will be programmed.
