Project details

Short description

This part of the project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the mathematical properties of methods for determining the author of a literary text. The observable stylometric properties of a text are not only influenced by its author but also by its genre and the epoch of its creation. Separating the different signals could be beneficial for an automatic genre classification. To test the statistical significance of the results, suitable statistical methods need to be developed.

Scientific Abstract

This part of the project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the mathematical properties of methods for literary authorship attribution based on stylometric distance measures. Another focus is on the separation of author signal, genre signal and epoch signal which could be beneficial for an automatic genre classification. In addition, reliable statistical methods for testing the significance of the results need to be developed.
