Third party funded individual grant
Start date : 01.01.2010
End date : 31.12.2099
The aim of the project, carried out in
cooperation with the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection
(BLfD), is to quantify the settled areas in the immediate vicinity of
Roman forts in Middle Franconia, belonging to Unesco world heritage. The
non-destructive method of geophysical survey with a magnetometer
(gradiometer) is applied. Since 2010, regular two-week campaigns have
taken place in spring and autumn, during which students are involved in
the surveying, the postprocessing of data and the interpretation of the
results. The project thus combines research, monument protection and
education.
Since 2010, BLfD funding
