Jenifer Merz has been a research associate at the Chair of Education focusing on Digitalization in Higher and Adult Education since October 2025.
As part of the Skill.cert feasibility project, carried out in cooperation with VelpTech Edutainment, she is developing and researching learning theory-based assessment formats supported by artificial intelligence. The aim is to design adaptive, evidence-based procedures for diagnosing and certifying informally or non-formally acquired soft skills.
During her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Education at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, she focused on digitalization in project-related, social, and educational contexts. Her thesis examined digital competence development strategies in a changing world of work, referring to the #NextWork programme from Siemens AG as an example. During her subsequent Master’s degree in Learning Design, her focus shifted to educational technology, artificial intelligence in education, and research on skill development.
