Abstract

Rolling bearings which are operating under the influence of high centripetal accelerations are often subjected to enormous requirements. Beside the nominal lifetime and the arising frictional moment, the bearing temperature – an important factor for the achievable operating life of such bearings – is also a crucial aspect for the feasibility of rolling element bearings in the context of great accelerations. For this purpose the bearing temperatures in and outside of the load zone were measured during several tests in the acceleration field. The evaluation of the measurement results shows, among further findings, that the bearing load does not necessarily have a big influence on the temperature with bearings under the influence of centripetal accelerations.
