Abstract

DVB's second generation cable transmission standard DVB-C2 introduces OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) to cable networks. Whilst its advantages are well-known in various transmission media, such as in terrestrial transmission, OFDM offers benefits also for cable transmission. Examples are the capability of becoming completely independent of an existing channel raster by a scalable signal bandwidth and the high robustness of the DVB-C2 system with respect to various kinds of distortions occurring in today's cable channels. Such features emphasize the role of DVB-C2 as a potential successor for digital transmissions in cable systems. This document focuses on the impact of interferers on the system performance of DVB-C2. The presented results can be used to optimize the parameter set of DVB-C2 for highest robustness in future applications.
