Abstract

A C bubble-maker: Induced by platinum nanoparticle templates, carbon atoms formed during the dehydrogenation of small hydrocarbon molecules gather and, reaching a certain coverage on the nanoparticle templates, form fullerenes (see picture). The tailor-made Pt nanoparticle templates exhibit defined shapes and sizes and are supported on inert or basic oxide supports. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
