Abstract

Lightweight design is a strongly ongoing trend especially in the automotive industry that is pursued by the use of modern materials and manufacturing technologies, like sheet metal hydroforming. . Within this book, a systematic analysis by simulation and experiments of an active counter punch system used to influence the forming process of complex parts by sheet metal hydroforming is described. The effects of tribological conditions, non-linear strain paths and the used material model in the FE-analysis as well as the design of an efficient multi step forming process are described and deliver details for the process planning engineer.
