Abstract

The scope of this thesis was resistance spot welding of aluminum to steel caused by new material concepts with elevated strengths, which are critical for mechanical joining technologies. In addition spot welding is an economic joining technology due to the short process time and favorable manufacturing equipment. The welding parameters and machine parts were varied systematically to adjust reproducible joining characteristics and force the intermetallic phases to grow in a specifically range.
