Abstract

Future-generation wireless networks are increasingly ubiquitous, which allows countless numbers of netizens to create, share and access live video sequences with several content forms and textures. As a result, there emerges a dire need for mechanisms to assess the quality of video transmission. Today's Mobile Networks are capable of solving many communication problems. However, it is very difficult to monitor and/or evaluate the quality of service or quality of experience for such real-time applications as video transmission over mobile networks, especially that these types of applications are very sensitive to packet losses, end-to-end delay, jitter and degradations provoked by the used encoder. Hence, it is necessary to study the impacts of diverse parameters (such as the number of nodes/users, used services' classes, etc.) using a simulation tool that illustrates the behavior of the wireless network throughout the transmission. Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET) allows for real devices to be tested over a simulated network. This paper studies the behavior of Long Term Evolution Network (LTE) taking into consideration several situations and parameters for video transmission to provide quality of service (QoS) satisfaction.
