Using the thermo elastohydrodynamic simulation tool „TriboFEM“ developed at the KTmfk, the friction of secondary roller face/ring side contacts is calculated taking into account exact geometries as well as the wear-induced profile change of primary raceway contacts. The results of the simulations are discussed and the potential for use in the design of rolling bearings is shown. TriboFEM can thus support the development of energy-efficient technical drive systems, which is becoming increasingly important against the background of resource scarcity and climate protection.
