Abstract

In the context of increasing demands for energy efficiency of rolling bearings, secondary contacts are gaining relevance. This demands for an accurate and efficient numerical design of the contacting bodies while considering realistic geometries, movement and lubrication conditions. Within this contribution, the elastohydrodynamically lubricated roller face/ring rib contact of a tapered roller bearing with axial loading was therefore optimized using numerical elastohydrodynamic contact simulation, meta-modeling and evolutionary algorithms.
